What makes Schouten International Light's lamps unique? Renée Busman explains: "It's all handcrafted. Our lamps are manufactured in workshops in Belgium and England, which ensures exceptional quality and attention to detail. In addition, the light sources in our lamps burn as much as 25,000 hours, which equates to eight years and eight months of continuous light."

Schouten International Light chose to exhibit at ETC. "We got the opportunity to come here a year ago and chose to be here because a lot of people from the Dutch market come here. It is the perfect place to present our unique lighting to a wide audience of interior design professionals and consumers."

Sustainability plays an important role at Schouten International Light. "For us, sustainability means producing economically and complying with all regulations," says Renée. "Our lamps have a cold cathode, which means they hardly give off any heat and consume much less energy than traditional lamps."

Why is the right lighting so important? According to Renée, it's different for everyone, but in general, light should be soft and not irritate the eyes. "It should fit in naturally and be suitable for various activities such as reading, writing, working and computing. In addition, it should not interfere with the interior."

When choosing lighting, customers should consider several factors. "First of all, you have to see if the lamp fits the room," Renée advises. "Many people nowadays buy lamps over the Internet without knowing what they look like in real life and what kind of light they give. It is better to see the lamps in real life and burning before buying. And always look at the lifespan. Getting good advice from a store or lighting designer is essential."
